it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Miss, do you have another mask? Mine broke."
"My mask is sweaty from gym class, do you have another one?" Three months in, and these are the most frequently asked questions so far this year.
My students are ethnically diverse individuals who come from economically marginalized communities. They care about their communities and the state of the world, often asking questions and sharing experiences. They love being back in school, but like most, are concerned about their safety.
My Project
For this project, I am requesting boxes of face masks and hand sanitizer to help keep my students safe while at school. We’ve gone through so many masks, as they accidentally break or need changing after the suggested four hours. I created a bin at the front of our classroom where I place several masks, so students know where to go in case they need a new one. Having extras and being able to share with students not only makes me feel safer but my students, too.
Without a doubt, disposable face masks are the most important school supply this year.
