This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work in the South Bronx at a 3K to eighth grade school, where 99% of the students qualify for free lunch. They attend school regularly and exhibit a willingness to learn despite their circumstances.
My students live and attend school in one of the poorest congressional districts in the United States.
They appreciate all the help that they can get. It is difficult for them to bring classroom supplies, let alone help with the extra things we need in class. They are thankful for all that they receive and show their appreciation in words and their work.
My Project
The materials that I am requesting will make a great difference in my students' life and learning. This project is about keeping students safe and healthy.
My students need reusable cloth masks because most parents cannot afford to buy disposable/cloth masks.
Masks help to stop the spread of germs/COVID 19.
I have heard stories from students and parents about buying disposable masks for $1 per mask, from nearby stores in the neighborhood. Having the reusable cloth masks will help families who don't have enough as it is, to save money.
Individual hand-sanitizers and mask cases, will also help to stop the spread of germs in classrooms and at home. It is very important that students remain safe while learning and playing.
