My Students

Our community of first graders loves to learn, build, and create. The students come from diverse backgrounds that include active military, English learners, and children with learning difficulties.

Young students are eager to learn, and the best way is with hands-on math experiences.

The academic impacts of COVID-19 on students will be unavoidable, and right now there are many things still up in the air. School will start for us online, but no one knows how long that will continue. What we do know is that first graders will be ready and anxious to learn in the fall.

My Project

With the COVID-19 pandemic, my students will need to be able to keep their supplies organized and germ-free. In the past, my classroom has been a community of sharing. This project will allow me to create math boxes to hold students' individual math supplies.

Students will be able to use these at home during distance learning and later at school when in-person learning resumes.

Having all of these materials available to each student will allow equity, assist with organization, and provide hands-on experiences for students as they develop number sense and operations.
