Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach kindergarten at a Title I school where most of our students receive free or reduced lunch. 40% of our students come from ethnic backgrounds. Most of my students have little or no-hands on experience when it comes to literacy or math. As their teacher, I plan on providing them with as many experiences as possible before going to 1st grade.
My students have an infatuation with math. Isn't it great? They love to make patterns, they love to sort and count different objects, & they love to use concrete manipulatives while learning. I hope to facilitate this learning and make their love for learning one that they will keep with them for years to come.
This is where I need your help. I am requesting some hands on manipulatives and resources that my students can use during math stations and math centers. The items are patterning trays, fun fruit counters, color cubes which will be used for balancing, patterning, & counting, a classroom balance, a counting jewels game, and a clipboard math set where my students can go around to their peers and ask them questions and then record the answers given with tally marks or by graphing. All of these materials my students will just love to use. Each resource you will be providing will give my students the opportunity of hands on learning in which kindergarteners learn best!
I want to thank you in advance for taking the time to read my proposal and for considering our classroom for your donation. It will mean so much to me and to my students to get these resources and to put them in to action. Thank you for making learning math so much fun!
