My Students

My class of fourth-graders makes each day at work exciting. They are inspiring, loving, and challenging all at the same time. I look forward to each day my students come to school with smiles and stories to share. I love watching them strive to be better in school; however, our lack of appropriate material hinders their success.

In my class, I strive to make important and meaningful connections among the various subjects that I teach.

Unfortunately, my students often have trouble finding material that interests them to read. In addition, they frequently lack inspiration and connection to reading material.

My Project

With these magazines, students will be introduced to fun and exciting topics related to science and history. Students will use these magazines to make connections to reading strategies as well as science and social studies topics taught in other subject areas.

These magazines will help support students' reading while teaching them about current events that are relevant to them.

Having these materials will allow me to do cross-curricular teaching, creating a better, more cohesive classroom environment as well as encouraging the students to make their own connections.

The use of these magazines will create an environment in the classroom that allows students to develop their own thoughts about various science, environmental, and history-related current events. The hope is that a student connection could lead to thoughts of future careers and dreams.
