Marvelous Beginning Musicians Need a Larger Music Library
My students need a piano, to accompany them during performances, and a karaoke machine to use during downtime for self-expression.

My Students
Do you know what it's like to have students who so eagerly want to be engaged in the music learning process, but don't possess the resources to be able to do so? "SAVE THE CHILDREN AND THE MUSIC!"
My students are all of African American descent.
100 percent of our school population is on free or reduced lunch. These children are eager to learn but our school doesn't possess all the resources to encourage that. I am doing the best I can to keep them engaged in music and in learning, but they would love to be able to relate their learning to real-world connections. My students are as love-able and sweet as can be, they just need to know someone cares. Help me help them, please!
My Project
I became a teacher with my district last year. I walked into an empty room and constructed a music program based on music theory and composition. Through tireless nights of emails and phone conversations, I was able to gain a small 66 key digital piano to use for choir. That piano was created in 1986 and is slowly dying. A new keyboard would completely change our learning environment. The students would use the piano to play full scales, accompany choir concerts and begin beginning piano pieces. As far as the Karaoke Machine, well kids are always hollering about how much they love to sing karaoke! This would be a fun and innovative approach to teaching them about tone and pitch, while they are having fun! Excitement in learning is extremely important and I want to fuel that excitement and passion in my students.
Sometimes my students complain that no one cares about them, and it breaks my heart.
They see all the instruments that surrounding districts have and can't fathom why they aren't afforded the same. These donations will prove that their hard work in music class is paying off and that they will be rewarded for their continuous efforts to do well.
