My Project
As a middle school Spanish teacher, I try to include art projects and games as much as possible to help my students enjoy learning and use their new language skills in groups with project-based learning. I have a Spanish Bingo set, a Lotería set, and Battleship sets for my classroom, but I would like to include a new game for my classroom but cannot self-fund for a classroom of 25 to 30 students. Also, the markers I got at the beginning of the year are now drying up, unfortunately. I’d like to have new markers to have enough till May!
I use markers to help students highlight their notes in Spanish 1, especially in this upcoming unit about verbs.
Spanish has 6 ways to use each verb, and I have the students color code the 6 ways throughout their notes. In exploratory Spanish, I use markers to help students learn their colors and numbers in exploratory Spanish. With the Christmas season coming up, I will be teaching my students phrases to make their own Christmas cards, and I would like to have enough markers for each student.
I would like to include a new game for my students to practice their conversational skills. Spanish is both written and verbal, and usually, students need more practice talking. Games help encourage talking between students: in my Battleship game, for example, my students are focusing on winning, but they also are using Spanish speaking skills using Spanish letters and numbers at each turn. A conversational snakes and ladders game would help my students expand their abilities to talk with one another instead of just rote classroom learning.
