My Project
Elementary schools go through many markers and glue sticks which typically end up in the garbage.
Over the past few years, our school came together to collect dried-out markers and empty glue stick containers to be recycled and not end up in a landfill.
My students have already done the dirty work of collecting these items and now they need to be properly recycled.
A company called, Terracycle, would collect and recycle these materials for free, however, recently, they changed the requirements and now only accept these to be shipped in a special box sold by their company called a "Zero Waste Box."
We still have a large marker/glue stick collection left before they changed their requirements and providing my students with this Zero Waste Box will be the last step in our recycling project. I want to be able to follow through with the recycling process and show my students that their hard work did not go to waste (literally) and that we can come together to help our planet.
