My students need markers as part of a basic art program. Since we have 400 students who use the markers, they are dried out by mid-year.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Students often ask "Can we use markers?" and really enjoy using this basic medium. Lately, I've answered "Not this time". I haven't been able to do the art lessons the students would enjoy because our current supply is dried out.
I have 400 art students in Grades K-8 in a large city school; we have a high ratio of active boys in our classes this year.
We reward our students in a positive way by hosting various activities such as dancing and exercising sessions, movie night, and student/staff basketball and softball games. During Art class time, I like to reward my students by consistently providing them art materials that they enjoy using, will hold their interest in the arts, and also to keep pace with other districts' Art programs. I often ask students what they would like to use or do for the next project, and if it is within reason, I try to provide it.
My Project
All of my Art students can use these markers daily, and the wide-barrel marker is especially helpful to have for beginning Kindergarten artists. For the purpose of my request, 8th graders will be designing and coloring 60s style lettering for a future Black History art presentation and another class will be designing and coloring "Stained Glass" style windows on paper using brightly colored markers. Using the side of the wide-barrel marker is helpful in coloring large areas of the paper without making the lines that the thin marker will make. We will use the thin markers for fine detail work such as outlining, eyes, and/or any small area of the design.
Your generous donation of a class pack of both thin and wide markers will make my students very happy, especially the third graders whose markers dried up in the middle of their last project!
