This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Pre-emergent English learners benefit from materials that make the content more inclusive, visual, and relevant. The MARCH trilogy, a graphic novel series by Congressman John Lewis, presents the civil rights movement through compelling visuals and firsthand experience, making complex history easier to understand.

Each student will be assigned a personal set of books to use throughout our civil rights unit.

At the end of the unit, the books will be returned to our classroom library so future students can benefit from them as well. This project not only enriches their academic learning, but also ensures all students can see themselves reflected in the stories we read.
