This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As I write this description, our amazing drumline performed for the first time this school year at a home basketball game. The students, the team, and the crowd were electric! The drumline heightened the excitement for everyone. Even parents of visiting players congratulated us and thanked us after the game (which our home team won!). We have talented players who are even better people. I'm thrilled to work with them.

Throughout the whole successful event, two of the three tenor players in the drumline had to use drumheads with cracks in the top layer, on the verge of breaking through and becoming unplayable.

Some heads have not been replaced in more than three years since I have been at this school. Two pairs of mallets are damaged from normal, extended use and need to be replaced. I would like to replace four drum heads on all three sets of quad toms and keep a spare set of heads for each instrument. I would also like to replace all of the tenor mallets with high-quality sticks and keep backups for each player. This way, we will all be able to play on well-tuned instruments without fear of being one stroke away from being out of commission.

The items that appear redundant in the accompanying list are actually the correctly sized heads and quantities for all the different drums on each set of quad tenors we hope to equip. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
