Help me give my students copies of two multi-cultural and representative texts, March and Stamped, to use in a small group, book-study setting.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Kelley's classroom raised $629

My Students
Our students are hardworking learners who strive to do their best in the classroom, their community, and at home. As part of a large district, and with a growing poverty level currently at 61.4%, our students face many challenges. They rise to those challenges, however, with grace and a hunger for success and knowledge.
Every challenge our students encounter is another opportunity for success.
Teachers and students set a high bar, whether that regards learning standards, expectations, or creation, and students work hard to rise to the occasion.
My Project
Students in the 8th grade ELA classes will engage in a deep study of a text of their choosing; other texts on offer include: Brown Girl Dreaming, Born a Crime (YR Edition), Just Mercy (YR Edition), Dear Martin, Hidden Figures (YR Edition), and now March, by Representative John Lewis, and Stamped, by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi.
More than ever, it is important to engage our students in the world around them.
Following the sudden closure of school last March, and the subsequent stay at home order, students have been lacking connection with peers, teachers, and the larger world. Meanwhile, they likely have been inundated with information from the world and helping them to process it is vital. Additionally, the importance of ensuring our students read texts, and especially literature, which is multicultural, diverse, and representative, cannot be overstated.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
