it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are incredibly talented, creative, and inspiring. They are so passionate about making music that many of them spend most of their extra time in my classroom before school, after school, during lunch, and even in between classes. My classroom is not only a home away from home for many of them, but is also their resource to make the music that they want to make, whether for themselves or with others.
They experience and grow so many of their skills as human beings through music.
They navigate collaboration and social interactions, put their own grit to the test while they prepare for auditions and competitions, grow their compassion while helping their classmates be the best they can be, and express themselves through the beautiful sounds that they make with their instruments. My students are already incredible musicians, but with the proper resources and equipment I can only imagine the new heights they can achieve!
My Project
Nothing adds the head bobbing factor to music like a good drum beat. The addition of an electronic drum set to our classroom will open up so many possibilities for all of my students, in both their creativity and performance. My guitar students are constantly creating their own arrangements of cover songs and even create their own original songs. They are always wanting to add drums to their arrangements and I want them to be able to make their own musical visions come alive. My orchestra and choir students love learning and performing modern repertoire as well. Many orchestral and choral arrangements of songs include drum kit parts that really bring those arrangements to life. We've never been able to perform these songs to their full potential because of our lack of a drum kit. My orchestra and choir students will now be able to perform the modern repertoire they love with the written drum beats. These drums will not only be a fantastic addition to our classroom, but will also give our concerts a new energy and flare!
Electronic drums are the perfect solution to manage noise levels in the classroom when so many students are needing to practice and create all at the same time.
Students will be able to use headphones to hear themselves while they are practicing, and then plug into a speaker when it's time to perform. Some of my students like to use electric guitars when they are creating music. Like the electronic drums, these little pocket amps will allow my students to plug in their electric guitars and use headphones to manage noise levels and block out other noise while they practice.
