Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a teacher in a low-income school district working with students who are English Language Learners, I want to provide for them the opportunity to obtain academic excellence amidst the various adversities they may face. Looking at the things we can control, I would like to help create a stable environment, teaching skills that will help them in any area of life.
Our school is comprised of over 1200 students from diverse backgrounds and as a bilingual & ESL educator, I work with exclusively with our Latino & Brazilian students.
Helping students learn how to keep track of their learning is crucial.
Composition notebooks have worked the best, since the pages don’t easily tear or fall away. We use the notebooks to keep track of all of our work from vocabulary, to comprehension questions, interactive glued in activities, and drawings of diagrams, maps, and charts.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
