I teach in a low-income school where many students have uncertain living arrangements. Many are considered homeless, live with other families, or are in transitional housing. Our school provides a stable and safe environment for them with many adults who care for and support them.
Providing support that allow students to be successful at school and ready to learn will boost self-esteem and self-worth.
While many of our students have difficult home lives, they are still driven to learn and build relationships with their peers.
My Project
After being online and in hybrid for the last year and a half, students are requiring a significant amount of reteaching of expectations this year. We are setting class and school goals in order to work on these skills. Goals will be set based on the specific needs of each cohort.
Every class that meets their goal will receive marble fidgets!
This is reinforce the idea that we are all working together to meet our goals toward being safe, respectful and responsible. Working together, we can make our school a safe and welcoming environment so all students can succeed.
