This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are energetic and curious about the world. They come to school eager, ready to learn and meet challenges head on. Their growth mindset and enthusiasm for learning is contagious, as they inspire me to challenge them and empower them with the skills they need to prepare them for the multi-cultural 21st century. They live in a low-income neighborhood, with a high Hispanic population and to most, English is their second language. One hundred percent of them qualify for free lunch.

My Project

My students need to know that there is more out in the world besides what they call home. Many of my students live unaware of people and places that exist in our world. With these Chromebooks they will be able to view video from places around the world and communicate with others through Skype or websites.

In order for me to teach tolerance of other cultures, they need to see and experience what is outside of their realm.

I want my students to be able to appreciate their culture and learn about what others experience. Technology provides a portal to vast resources from around the world.

I will create assignments through Google Classroom where my students will watch videos then teach others what they have learned. When they have questions about a specific place they will be able to visit it virtually through Google Maps and find information about the culture and place through their website.
