Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work with a very vibrant bunch of fourth graders. There is never a dull moment in our classroom. They are more like one big family than they are classmates. They argue with one another, but they care for and love one another even more. All twenty-five of them bring so much joy to my life in their own special way and I want nothing more than to provide them with a rich, academic learning environment.
My fabulous fourth graders continue to shine despite some of the struggles that they face both in and out of the classroom.
I work in a Title One school where all of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
My students and I are very close, not just because we see each other everyday, but because we have something special in common. We all speak two languages, both Spanish and English. My students were so happy to find out that I shared their home language with them and in return, they have felt safe to be open and honest with me about everything. I honestly could not have asked for a better group of scholars!
My Project
My students have a deep love for learning. They are always eager to learn new things and enjoy taking part in a project based learning environment.
My students are more engaged in their learning when they are able to use manipulatives and be hands-on.
This is why having these manipulatives would be so beneficial to my learners. It is especially beneficial to my class, being that a majority of them are English Language Learners, that they are better able to connect with what they are learning when it is done in a tangible and visual way. The materials would help me meet the needs of my students in a way that would make learning even more enjoyable and meaningful for them.
