Manipulatives for Math Intervention Students

Help me give my students math manipulatives to understand math concepts more deeply.

My Project

I teach grades 3-6 math intervention to students who are largely low-income. My students lack the deeper conceptual understanding of the basic operations (addition, subtracting, multiplication, and division), which hampers their growth in math throughout the year.

My goal is to strengthen intervention students' number sense through daily use of manipulatives as they work through carefully sequenced arithmetic problems (with me helping stretch students to use more sophisticated strategies).

The headphones will enable students to access an online "math strategies component" that reinforces students' new understandings. The math manipulatives will greatly benefit students in attaining fluency and flexibility in mathematical thinking, which is the foundation of mathematical literacy.

In short, your donation will help to improve the foundational understandings that will improve my students' basic math competency.
