My Students

Everyday is an adventure in my classroom! I have 16 students who are incredibly unique and amazing. This means they learn differently, and need very individualized support. They love to learn, and I love coming to school everyday and discovering new ways to help them become successful!

My students range in age from Kindergarten to third grade and all read below grade level.

Despite their delays, they all are touched by the joy of reading when it engages them. Reading is their opportunity to travel the world, discover new things, and use books to stretch their imaginations. They also love math! Many of my students are English Language Learners, but the language of numbers is in their bones. It is incredible to watch them work with a problem and see a light bulb go off when they have solved the puzzle!

My Project

I am requesting a variety of hands-on materials for my students to practice their reading and math skills. This includes a Magnetic Alphabet Maze, one Hands-On Number Grid, Giant Alphabet Beads, Giant Number & Counting Beads, and one Magnetic Counting Maze. My students are visual and tactile learners, so having materials that allow them to see and feel letters and numbers will help them so much! In order to access the general education curriculum, supports like these are invaluable for their learning.

It is an indescribable joy to see my students grow everyday.

When they grasp a topic or learn a new letter, or finally understand a complicated math problem, everything changes. This builds lifelong learners and learners who can build off of what they know. As I talk to parents, it is also amazing to see how these skills are not just being used in the classroom, but through every aspect of their lives!
