Manipulatives and Vertical Work Spaces for Collaboration

Help me give my students magnetic whiteboards and manipulatives that will support a Building Thinking Classroom so that students can use movement and varied whiteboard heights to collaborate within math.

My Project

Vertical surfaces like whiteboards and magnetic manipulatives are engaging and exciting for young children, encouraging them to participate in activities and fostering a love for collaborative learning.

This can improve their attention span and focus in the classroom.

Table top white boards allows for more movement and can be particularly beneficial for first-graders who tend to be restless or have difficulty sitting still for extended periods. Smaller personal whiteboards allow for participation in math anywhere within the room. Magnetic math manipulatives that can be used on the table top whiteboards will foster greater connection and understanding to the math.

Supporting this project will benefit a Title 1 Classroom of first graders who are still learning to navigate social awareness along with collaboration. The magnetic rewards jar will provide a visual to monitor successes during collaboration, and the school supply pieces will allow for a clear visual of materials needed during collaborative work.
