Manipulatives and Toys

Help me give my students manipulatives and sensory toys that increase their communication and social needs to play with their friends. Giving students the opportunity to request and respond to activities is a big part of learning.

My Students

My students from our school are part of a specialized classroom. We are distinguished as a Diagnostic Kindergarten classroom for students with Autism and other disabilities. This classroom allows students to come from various backgrounds, and participate in a classroom with smaller sizing, as well as more adult support to help them engage in our different classroom activities. My energetic students enter my classroom looking for fun and engaging activities to help them be successful in their learning environment.

They enthusiastically seek activities that fulfill their sensory needs, pretend play, building opportunities and social moments.

They love the opportunity to greet teachers in the hallways and identify letters, numbers, colors and shapes as we go for walks in the hallways.

My Project

Communication and requesting what is that? Having students request or willing to play with an adult or another child is very important in our learning process here at our school.

Students who enjoy items to play with and are intrigued by the function of the toy will allow us to present social interactions with other peers as well as communicating their wants and needs.

Communication and engagement are a leading part of learning within my classroom setting.

Having a vast variety of toys that intrigue my students and allow them the opportunity to continue in their educational needs is very important in my classroom.
