Manipulatives and Materials for Magnificent Munchkins
My students need these items including wipe and write pockets, scooter boards and sentence strips to develop imaginative play while increasing cognitive skills, fine motor skills, language and literacy and cooperative learning.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Ten of my students are between three and four years old and have been identified with a special need and are on an Individual Education Plan. This includes Autism, Language and Speech Delays, Cognitive Delays and difficulty with fine and gross motor skills, along with other associated diagnosis. The additional ten students are typically developing Pre-K "role model" students. All of the students are learning how to work cooperatively on all activities through out the day. The school population is made up of all cultures and economic situations. The school provides free breakfast to all students and has a free or reduced lunch program for those who qualify. The teachers and administration present safe, working classrooms for all students to grow and develop in a collaborative atmosphere.
My Project
All students need opportunities to have new materials. Our classroom needs materials such as hula hoops and scooter boards for outside play. We need water droppers, magnetic manipulatives, goggles and tweezers for science exploration. The cars, little people and traffic sings will promote safety awareness in the community. The paint and sentence strips will guide students toward print awareness.
New materials will increase pride in every student, which will increase self esteem and worthiness.
These much needed materials will be used to replace much loved, worn down and consumed items from previous learners. The students will enjoy the new items to increase beginning early language and literacy through hands-on experiences.
Learning through play will enhance speech and language, cognitive skills and fine and gross skills. The students will engage in cooperative activities through out the day like sharing and turn taking. The students will use the other materials for creative thinking, imaginative play and problem solving skills during their independent work time.
