Manipulative Mathematicians!

My students need math manipulatives to help them count, add/subtract, and create multiplication groups.

My Students

Can you imagine how boring it would be if your teacher always gave you worksheet after worksheet to complete in class? With these wonderful math manipulatives, my students can have a rewarding hands-on experience as they master essential math concepts in second grade!

My students are second graders who live in a small town near the thriving metropolis of DC.

Thus, my school has quite a unique, diverse demographic of kids. My class is a melting pot of kids from China, Korea, India, the Middle East, South America, and Central America.

My Project

My students will use the unifix cubes, connecting cubes, and translucent counters to help them as they practice different adding and subtracting skills. They will also be used as pieces in different Math learning games we do. The pattern blocks will be a great addition to our hands-on learning lessons when we cover our Geometry unit. They will help the kids learn the different planes shapes and how they fit together to create new shapes.

Donations to this project would be so beneficial to my students' learning.

Second graders do very well with kinesthetic activities that allow them to work with a problem right there in front of them. I will better be able to help them visually understand place value and geometrical concepts.
