Manipulative Math Sets

My students need base ten blocks and other math manipulative sets.

My Students

Our school levels math classes so that each student can have their needs better met mathematically. I want to be able to help my struggling math students grow so that they can love math.

My math class contains many students who never quite mastered basic math skills before fifth grade.

At this age, they are starting to have to apply these skills to newer techniques. Imagine having to learn to how to do operations with decimals if you never grasped the place value concepts. It is a daily struggle to help my students perform these tasks. They become discouraged quickly and lose their motivation to keep trying.

My Project

With these math manipulative sets, I hope to help my students become more motivated. We would use these sets to assist in areas where they are not proficient and confident enough in themselves to do the skills on their own. Most of my math students are hands-on and visual learners.

These sets will provide them with the tools they need to assist their learning so that they may feel successful again.

I can help walk them through it many times, but they really become engaged in their learning when they realize they can do these skills on their own. Even if it is with the help of manipulative items, they feel intelligent and successful once again.
