Help me give my students ample opportunities to manipulate and create while learning. This project helps provide my students with hands on activities to keep them engaged such as counting quantities through building with the Lakeshore Number Rockets.

My Students
How cute are my little ones? I have the opportunity to educate these young minds and I couldn't be any more excited! My students are a part of the CMES community, being one of six Kindergarten classrooms, serving in a high-poverty area where 100% of our students receive free meals.
“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, it's not." - Dr. Seuss
CMES is a wonderful learning community, however, the struggle lies with providing our students with the classroom resources they deserve! CMES is a School of Mathematics, dedicated to providing students with rigorous and meaningful learning opportunities, and is continually looking for ways to enhance not only the educational experience for every child but also extending the same love and support into their daily lives beyond "these four walls". In fact, that is this Kindergarten teacher's mission and this is where it starts. With varying skill sets, ways of learning, home environments, and access to technology, these Kindergarten kiddos are in need of nourishment through education.
Thank you for donating to my classroom as it contributes to positively impacting these little lives! It is truely appreciated!
My Project
Within this project, you will find vast amounts of hands on activities for the Kindergarten learner. Who likes to sit still all day? Surely, not five to six year old children! This teacher is all about the creative side of learning. Young learners should be able to take the information given to them and apply it through self-expression.
Put away the paper and pencil, and break out the paint, ink pads and play dough!
This project features the materials to keep students busy in engaging centers such as sponge painting their alphabet and numbers, choosing their favorite color ink to put together letters to form a word, and rolling around some play dough to letters and numbers. I have personally found that when students are able to make a choice in how they apply what they have learned they are much more likely to complete 'independent tasks' and look forward to creating and sharing in centers.
Rolling dice to write a word and launching letters sounds like a 'blast'. Students are practicing the skills needed to be successful within the classroom all while having fun and being engaged in meaningful activity. I am excited to see how these activities will add to the student engagement and collaboration within my classroom.
