My Project
My students are full of passion, personality, and artistic energy—they’re always doodling, debating plot twists, and dreaming big. I teach at a continuation high school where many students are rediscovering their love of reading through art-rich stories. Our classroom is a safe haven where creativity and connection matter more than test scores, and where graphic novels are the new literary gateway.
Many of my students face enormous challenges outside of school—poverty, trauma, unstable housing—yet they walk through our doors each day ready to try again.
Manga like One Piece, Death Note, and Vagabond speak to their resilience, offering stories where the underdog fights back and heroes emerge from hardship. These books aren’t just cool—they’re transformative. With your help, we’ll stock our shelves with stories that inspire courage, spark imagination, and help healing happen.
