Manga Motivates Middle School Minds to Create, Collaborate, and Construct

My Project

If you want kids to read you give them the books they want, and my students have made it clear-manga is exactly what they want! It captivates them and our small collection flies off the shelf. Enriching the experience by having students create their own manga page(s) after reading is the next step, but we need more books so every interested student can participate.

Manga reaches out and pulls in kids at all levels of reading; reluctant readers, striving readers, English Language Learners, and kids who devour books everyday.

The sequential pictures spark imagination, enhance comprehension, and make reading an exciting visual journey for kids. The immersive and visual experience of creating their own manga will not only deepen their connection to a style of literature they love, but empower them as active creators.

Your help in getting more manga books will not just meet the current need, but will also bring lasting educational benefits to our students. By embracing their interest in manga we are not just encouraging reading, but also fostering a love for storytelling, creativity, and cross-cultural understanding.
