Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

All of my students have speech delays, and some need occupational (fine motor skills) and physical therapy support. On top of having their specific needs, my students also come from low-income families, and more than half of my students are English Language Learners.

Please do not let their circumstances trick you; my students are bright, cheerful, kind, and eager to learn.

Autism, Mild Intellectual Disability, Developmental Delay, and Traumatic Brain Injuries are only labels. When you choose to see the "able" instead of the label, you will notice the brilliant minds at work at their very own pace and time.

My Project

Conscious Discipline is brain-based research that targets young learners to adults' social-emotional learning. It is a program that teaches adults how to build resilience, empathy, understanding emotions and how to respond to our own emotions in children. It will also help change the culture of how adults are to teach children self-regulation by making connections while the children feel safe.

Conscious Discipline is a research-based social-emotional learning curriculum that is based on brain research.

This program does not only teach young children how to self-regulate and understand their feelings or emotions, it starts with teaching the adults about how our responses to our own emotions affect our young learners when we are consciously understanding and managing our own feelings when we are triggered.

All of the materials requested not only beneficial to my students and my staff, but I can also support and train my students' family how to utilize all of the resources, so there will be consistency between school and home. Ultimately, children are like sponges. They observe and absorb how adults react to their emotions, and they can mirror it almost instantly. When the adults are conscious about their own emotional state, it will help the children to be more self-regulated and make wise choices. This is the skill all children need as a strong foundation to become successful learners.
