This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love my class! They are forever supporting one another, curious about the world around them, and wanting to constantly improve themselves, but sometimes their behavior gets in the way of their learning. With the sensory toys, this can help them get control of their behavior and alleviate all that pent-up emotional and physical energy so that they can get to work.

It's tough to know what you want but are not able to convey what you want.

This is what my students have to go through at times. They have difficulty processing what's in their mind and being able to communicate their needs. Hopefully, with this sensory processing support kit and toys, we can address their restless mind and energy so that they are better equipped to manage their bodies and behavior and fully participate in their class activities.

These sensory toys help support the occupational, physical, and adaptive physical education therapy that my students receive, such as fine and gross motor skills, through playing with the balls and playing with the sensory toys. Since these services are only provided for a certain amount of time, these toys allow me to continue the services in the classroom. This results in having my student better able to regulate their behavior, calm their mind, and redirect their focus so that they can think, be more focused, and better communicate their needs.
