This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Music is a big part of my students social-emotional and academic growth. It’s not just about learning notes; it’s about letting kids express themselves and grow in so many ways. In the Orff-Schulwerk approach, it is all about hands-on learning through rhythm, melody, and movement. But right now, we’re missing one key piece: usable mallets.
These mallets are essential for making the most out of our xylophones and getting my students fully involved in performing, creating and improvising music.
Giving students the equipment they need not only empowers their musical growth, but it builds their skills in teamwork, perseverance and communication. Having functional, Orff sized mallets will set my students up for success as we play, create and develop our musical skills together.
