Making Zines, Making Change

Help me give my students publishing supplies for making zines (mini magazines), such as a printer, paper, scissors, glue, and other crafting supplies to help them tell their unique stories.

My Project

This campaign will fund essential supplies for the Zine Club, a space where students craft personal stories into powerful mini-magazines called zines (zeens). Items like the printer and ink, paper cutters, markers, and specialized paper will allow students to fully engage in the writing, design, and publishing process.

This hands-on experience is critical for our main goal: to dramatically improve students' writing skills as they write about what they know best—themselves.

With writing across all content areas being our school's primary focus this year, our hope is the knowledge and confidence gained in the club will transfer directly into their academic writing.

Furthermore, we aim for students to understand how sharing their voices can bring on positive change and build community. Our students are truly special; coming from diverse, multicultural backgrounds, they possess a wealth of unique, valuable stories to tell. These zines build bridges of understanding across our school. Please help us equip these young authors and activists with the tools they need to share their power and positively impact our community.
