My students need a computer to upgrade our Virtual Reality module. We are currently running it on a 1999 Dell Pentium 2. A new computer would make the experience awesome

My Students
Mod Tech allows students to pick from modules they want to learn. 3D modeling, Lasers, car design, digital photography, t-shirt design, electronics, etc are available. Students work at their own pace with a partner and complete as many modules as they can. I guide them & help them excel.
I love our school and the opportunities we give students.
We are a very diverse school with a large number of our students having free or reduced lunch, but we still have music, technology, art and language available to the students every day.
The students are quite fond of the technology offerings I give them because for many of them it is the only time they get to work with technology. I am always amazed at how many of them respond that my course is the first time that they have ever used email.
The students are quite resourceful and do a good job with the materials we have at hand, but we are way behind the times with our equipment anymore.
My Project
A new computer will help make the experience in my virtual reality module awesome! Currently we are using a 1999 Dell Pentium II computer in the module. We have 3D glasses, a virtual human body program, and a virtual guitar, but the computer that is running it is way too old.
I also have a exciting virtual reality glove that I simply cannot use because the computer is not powerful enough to run it. I have experimented with it at my home and it is pretty neat to be able to reach out with your hand and grab the items on the screen. This computer would help bring that activity to the students.
This computer would also let us expand to use the Oculus rift 3D headset. It is pushing the boundaries of what a virtual reality experience feels like.
Google has created Google Glass which is an augmented reality device. It adds a heads up display, by one eye, that does many exciting things for you.
Virtual reality is growing and this is a great opportunity to let me kids grow with it.
This module gives students an exciting experience in a virtual world.
Sometimes this virtual world is far more appealing than the world they return to each day.
The job market for virtual reality is poised to grow with the Oculus rift and Google glass appearing. What a great way to give our students a head start on that.
This computer could give a student one more reason to dream of a exciting reality that they are creating each day when they come to school. Lets make dreams become reality.
