This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
What would you do if you came across a family that could live forever? Would you want to join them? Would you help them when they were in trouble? Would you be scared and turn them in? These are the questions in Tuck Everlasting.
Tuck Everlasting is a book that gets our children thinking about life, love, trust, hope, and responsibility.
This is what I want my children thinking about. I want them to think about what they would do when given a chance to do something great. I want them to think about what it's like to help other people. I want them to think about what they would do if they lived forever. I want them to think about being better people. Tuck Everlasting will help fuel these thoughts. I want them all to do this at the same time.
My Project
Read Alouds are great, but if the children can't read along, they will inevitably lose interest. Even with the greatest books, children's attention will wander if they don't have something tangible to hold on to. Having a class set of this book will ensure that all children can read along, and stay focused. It will also allow each child to take their copy home and re-read favorite, or difficult sections.
I am trying to teach my children to be the best people they can be, and to get them to LOVE reading.
Tuck Everlasting is a great book that can help with both goals. A copy for each child will make that even more possible. Thank you in advance for giving me the opportunity to open my student's eyes and world!
