My Students

It's time for ACTION! My students are very tech savvy but they are still struggling with how long things take to complete. It would help them to become accustomed to working and pacing themselves so that they can finish assignments.

My students are a diverse fifth grade group.

They are receiving their education in a highly transient urban school district. Our school is becoming more technology upgraded but it has been a slow process. This is my first application because I often buy materials on my own. I have a very energetic class with LOTS of great personalities. They ask thought provoking questions and they keep me on my toes. They range in abilities from a child who reads three grade levels above, to a student who just came to my classroom a week ago from Mexico. They are very well behaved but they sure do like to talk and this can get in the way of what we need to do everyday.

My Project

Timers may seem like an odd request but I try to stress to my students the importance of time. They are very used to high pace Internet, ipods, and things at the snap of their fingers. By receiving these timers I can help my students learn the importance of slowing down and using their time wisely. Students will learn that sometimes if you put your mind to it, you can get a lot done in five minutes if you put your mind to it.

By supporting this project you will be giving my students the opportunity to focus on task at hand.

Students will come to the realization that time flies when your having fun, and we do,and that school is just like life, there is a time and a place for everything. By using these timers in my classroom it will help my students and myself see the importance of using every minute to its fullest.
