This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Thirty little hands, thirty little smiles, thirty big hearts! Those are the students in my second-grade classroom. They each come with their own set of skills and perspectives. Each is a valuable member of our classroom community.
Thirty voices are heard and respected in our forum of learning.
Despite their diverse backgrounds, each student is able to understand and learn from each other. That is the culture I strive to create in our classroom community. They may come into my old bungalow every morning, wearing sometimes tattered clothing and hand-me-down shoes, most of the time with little or no breakfast in their tummies. Yet, they want to be at school and they want to learn...from me. I am grateful every day for their willingness to be part of our classroom community.
My Project
The materials I'm asking for will go directly to students for home distance learning, and will help me make the best of my home-based classroom. With the use of whiteboards for students and a document camera for me, students will be able to follow along when I engage them in demonstration lessons from home.
Students will have a whiteboard, marker, and eraser to be able to do their work and show their work to me from their own computers.
The scissors and glue, although seemingly basic tools for school, are enormously important in the success of completing challenging and meaningful tasks. Especially for our primary grade students, these school supplies offer foundational motor-skill building and will ensure that they will have what they need to complete tasks assigned.
The jump rope is just one item I can offer them to keep up with physical activity. With embedded PE lessons in my distance learning day, I can give students time to be active and use jump ropes in various ways to engage and excite students to move!
