Making the News

My Students

Have you ever heard 1200 people laugh, cry, or cheer? My students have because they create a daily news show. Their job is to keep the entire school informed through their daily news show.

My students are responsible for making teens care.

They have interviewed the gubernatorial candidates, covered suicide, explored the issue of sexual harassment, and conquered cyber-bullying. When decisions are being made that impact students, they are not afraid to ask why. They are journalists and students who strive to get better every day.

My Project

All my students want to create the best newscast possible for students and patrons to see. They know that the current equipment is outdated and is not providing them a real-world experience that will help them to improve their skills needed to enter the broadcast field.

The new equipment will give them an opportunity to do things that they have not been able to do.

Their future will be brighter with an opportunity to use the AJA Io 4K UltraHD HDMI & SDI I/O that will work as a brain to connect all the hardware to a computer that will allow students to switch and monitor the news show. The Blackmagic Design Micro Converters will allow for an HD signal to be sent to the control room. This is important because it is a strong enough signal to be able to green screen the weather and other projects. Plus this system will include motion graphics and give the students the ability to live stream directly from the studio without having to move equipment. Finally, it will allow them to produce a broadcast that looks professional that they can be proud of.
