My Students
Our students are ages 4-11, in grades pre-k though 5th. We value education very highly here. The students in our school are thirsty for learning, and come to our school from literally around the neighborhood and around the city, some from around the world. We have a highly diverse population, encompassing students whose families have immigrated from countries such as China, Pakistan, Israel, Russia, Haiti and Trinidad, just to name a few.
As the school's library/media specialist, it is my pleasure to teach every single student in the school.
This gives me the rare opportunity to work with the same students year after year.
My Project
These requested Chromebooks will serve multiple Library/Media and Maker purposes. We recently received a grant of materials to create a makerspace in the library. Although the materials are awesome, and the students will love them, there were no devices included for programming the bots, or for watching videos that accompany some of the materials.
My vision is to update our technology, a few devices at a time, so that all the students who work in the Library/Media center, as well as those visiting the makerspace, will be able to research, type and print with ease, as well as access our online catalog.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
