Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our third graders and middle school students are inquisitive, bright, and enthusiastic learners. Keeping physically active , especially during this pandemic is essential to their well being. They want to lead healthy lifestyles in order to prevent diseases and to combat obesity. I’m excited to take this opportunity to start an after school running club for at risk group of young ladies at our middle school who will mentor 3rd graders.

This will empower girls in our middle school community which is important so they can lead a more active lifestyle can make a positive impact in their lives and improve their self-esteem.

My Project

Students need running shoes so they can be comfortable and motivated to exercise more.

They will wear these shoes at home so they can participate in physical education activities, such as marching in place, walking, jogging and running with their families.

Once we are back at school, they will exercise in an extracurricular walking/jogging/running club with me. We will work together to increase our physical endurance by walking, jogging and eventually running. This will prepare the 3rd graders for the fitness test where they have to run a mile in less than 15 minutes in the 5th grade. The older girls will serve as role models for the 3rd graders.
