This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach preschool in a low-income inner city. My students range from ages 3 years to 5 years old. They come to school every day eager to explore and learn. My classroom is considered an inclusion room, so I have half students with special needs and the other half are peers.
Although my students are little, they have enormous personalities and an even a bigger urge to learn.
I love my job because I am able to help these little people get a jump start on learning about the world, their friends, and themselves.
My Project
The materials I am requesting will help keep my students engaged in story time during remote learning. The tangible pieces will allow me to provide follow up questions to the story to check for understanding. Felt stories encourage the enjoyment of language. They help children who do not show interest in books to find some enjoyment during story time. These stories will also be used for retelling. The pieces help children recall the events of a story and put the events in order. This is beneficial for the development of reading comprehension and memorization. The possibilities are endless!
