Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My student population In Honoka’a, Hawaii is diverse and rich in skills as well as knowledge. My students are incredible learners who benefit the most from hands-on activities. In our class, students engage in meaningful learning by accessing information through readings, films, art, and discussions. However many of my students would benefit from more resources in our classroom so they continue to develop their independent learning. As an ongoing effort to provide students agency to demonstrate mastery of concepts, I’ve created a menu option of quarterly projects. These projects vary from posters, music videos, essays, paintings, drawings, and films created by my students. It’s an opportunity to reach my diverse population.
My students are powerful and insightful.
As an educator, I have been able to create self-directed learning opportunities that completely empower my students to show their learning. The more I can provide for my student population the better results and experiences will have in my class. I truly appreciate the support my classroom will receive, and all my students will benefit.
Maybe art, music, or editing, using the posterboard, markers and headphones can all be the key for my student’s engagement. All of my students benefit from non-restricting learning environments that help them feel safe and focused. Keeping my classroom ready for students’ needs and resources to benefit their learning will create a space for pupils' intellectual growth.
