Making Simple Machines Simple

My students need 3 sets of materials to investigate simple machines.

My Students

Can you imagine investigating simple machines without having any simple machines?

My students are very eager young scientists that want to explore everything!!

We are a small, rural, public school with very limited resources for science. Generally, all science materials have come from the generous grants we receive. Without this grant, my students will study simple machines through books.

My Project

With these resources, my students will be able to complete more that 12 investigations which include calculating how much work is done when an object is moved a measured distance and investigating the mechanical advantage of a lever by experimenting with the position of the fulcrum, load and effort.

With these simple machine kits, the students will be able to investigate how simple machines make work easier by magnifying, modifying, transferring, or changing the direction of the applied force.

Students will also identify and examine household or other everyday simple machines.
