This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My preschool students are children who are three to five years of age. My school is in sunny San Pedro, California. The children from San Pedro come to school each morning ready to learn and grow. There's never a dull moment in our class; my students are busy bees moving from one interest area to another. They're eager to learn, explore, engage and experiment with the instructional materials and centers I set up for them. Every single one of my students deserves a fair chance at having his or her potential nurtured and fully developed. My little ones have an insatiable curiosity, that's why it's important for me to have a class with a variety of instructional materials to meet their educational needs.
My Project
The children's book collection consisting of titles such as Same, Same But Different, Children of the World Book Set, What I Like About Me, Viva Frida, Moods and Emotions Book Set and A Story An African Tale will all help my students celebrate others and open their eyes to differences and similarities among people. The books will also, help my students develop a sense of his or her own identity as well as understanding of those who are different in terms of ethnicity, abilities and culture.
To promote cultural awareness and respect, my students will have the hands-on experience of dressing up with the Cultural Clothing Outfits, this will help my students become culturally sensitive and learn that people's differences make our world a better place.
