FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Redmon's classroom raised $333
This project is fully funded
I teach a classroom of seven high school autistic students ranging in age from 15 to 21. The school that I teach in is found in a very high need area, and I have a very, very low budget to work with.
My students will face numerous obstacles in their lives, and it is my job to try to prepare them for life after graduation. For some reason every student in my classroom seems to have great difficulty understanding the concept of money. This is a skill that will be very valuable to them for the rest of their lives. Many of them have the ability to hold jobs after graduation but would have great difficulty handling and using money.
To help my students learn and understand money so that they will have a better chance at becoming productive members of society I will need a variety of different money activities and games. I will need one set of both plastic coins and paper money, and one set of magnetic coins and two sets of magnetic bills. I will also need several different money skill games to help enhance the learning experience for my students. They learn best with hands-on activities instead of paper and pencil activities. The games that I am asking for are The Allowance Game, Money Flash Cards, Money Match-Ups, ATM Action, Making Cents, Money Rolling to Learn Game, Money Math Monster Game, and Money Bingo. These materials and games will be a great start to our classroom money center.
Your generous donation will ensure that these autistic students will get the skills that they need to help them be productive members of society. I want them to be able to go out to lunch and give the cashier the correct amount of money and know if they got the correct amount of change in return. These are simple skills that we take advantage of every day. I want my students to be able to learn and keep these skills for a lifetime.
