Help me give my students bright and comfortable seats for partner reading/phonics centers in the classroom. With a large number of students, it can be difficult for partners to find a space to read and work together.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend the largest public elementary school in NYC. It is a Title I school with large classes of high-need, predominantly ESL students. They are smart and creative children who need a nurturing environment to support their learning. Many do not have access to books and a library outside of school, and I want my classroom to be a place where they develop a love of reading and learning that will stay with them the rest of their lives.
Please help me provide my students with a bright and comfortable space to read and learn!
My Project
There are 29 students in my class of 1st graders. The students are predominantly English Language Learners and come from families who are working hard to provide them with basic needs and support their learning without knowing the English language.
Please help my students by giving them a comfortable space to develop a love of reading and learning!
I want my classroom to be a positive environment where students can read comfortably in partnerships and independently - without the stress that they may be feeling when they are outside of my classroom. These bright and colorful seats and fun phonics games will make my students excited to read with their classmates.
