Help me give my students hands-on learning tools like capes, dinosaurs, building toys, water doodle mats, and art supplies to inspire creativity, encourage play, and build a joyful foundation for school.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My Transitional Kindergarten (TK) students are curious, energetic four-year-olds who come from beautifully diverse backgrounds, bringing a rich tapestry of cultures and languages into our classroom. For many, this is their very first experience in a school setting. I want to create a warm, welcoming environment where they feel safe, valued, and excited to learn. The resources I’m requesting — including reward capes, storytelling gloves, magnetic cubes, and art supplies — will help make learning magical and accessible for all of my students, no matter their starting point.
These materials will be used both indoors and outdoors to support hands-on, play-based learning.
The water doodle mat, sidewalk chalk, and dinosaur play sets will encourage creativity and storytelling while developing fine motor and language skills. Floor spots and spray bottles will support movement-based activities and sensory exploration, which are especially important at this age. By offering students multiple ways to engage with content — through art, storytelling, building, and imaginative play — I can meet their individual needs and learning styles, especially for those who are learning English or adjusting to a school routine for the first time.
My goal is to help each child fall in love with school — to see it as a place of joy, wonder, and belonging. With these materials, I can spark their imaginations, encourage collaboration, and build the foundation for a lifelong love of learning.
