This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school, located by the famous Bronx Zoo, is filled with laughter and smiles. But there are some children, our special education students, who face many obstacles and challenges at school and within their communities. This wonderful group of exceptional children won't let anything get in their way of learning and having fun while they do so. Unfortunately, due to cuts on our school funding by the city, we are sorely lacking classroom supplies that we use to create projects, art, poetry and other projects to share with students and their families.

Without essential classroom supplies, our special needs students will struggle to create, share, and protect their most prized works and creations.

These students already must contend with their various disabilities and financial hardships within our community. We all depend on basic schools supplies to create our classwork, projects other forms of expression. But due to lack of funding, we struggle each day to memorialize their most valued works without the use of the supplies we are asking for.

As part of a Title I school, the majority of these students' families have great financial needs and lack access to reliable technology. With the cuts in funding to our most needy schools, teachers turn to donors, such as you, to help us provide basic supplies for our children. Every donation directly helps these students remain involved in their education!
