My students need keyboards to learn how to play piano. My goal is to raise enough funds for at least 10 keyboards to kick start my group piano course.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This is the first year in many that we have a choir program at FHS and we currently have 165 student singers! Our school is predominantly Latino (79%) and African American (19%) servicing 1100 students, grades 9-12 in the amazing, resilient, and diverse city of Houston, TX. 90% of our students are on free or reduced lunch and our graduation rate is at 95%. My kids are smart, talented and eager musicians who love to learn how to sing and play!
My Project
Once a week for 90 minutes, our students get to participate in Genius Hour. This is a time where students can self select into a course that isn't normally offered. Teachers find out what students want to learn, and then we teach to their interests! Past classes have been: robotics, forensics, how to do your taxes and job interview skills! There has been a lot of student interest in piano lessons and I want to purchase at least 10 keyboards to start a group piano course during Genius Hour. My kids are really eager to learn and I would love to raise enough funds to kick start this course!
