it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We can learn about the world through music! My students need a chance to explore music from around the world through a variety of instruments.
I teach in a public school in the same neighborhood I grew up in.
Most of the students in my school come from low-income families and are faced with drugs and violence on the streets. The students in my transitional kindergarten are very eager and active children full of energy that will benefit immensely from music experience in the classroom.
My Project
I am requesting a variety of instruments including some from around the world to expose my students in my transitional kindergarten class to the wonderful sounds of different instruments. Through music, my students will learn about different cultures. They will gain an appreciation of various types of music. I am also requesting other instruments like the xylophone to add to our classroom music collection. According to research, learning music helps students to achieve in core academic areas. My students' music experience in kindergarten will make a positive impact on their future learning, both in music and core subject areas.
With your support, my students will experience music from around the world right in our classroom, create rhythms, express themselves and gain an appreciation for various cultures and their music.
