My Students
I teach in a preschool room in a low-income school district. My students are faced with challenges inside and outside of the classroom. Despite the many challenges that my students are facing, I strive to provide them with a fun, interactive, safe, and meaningful learning environment. As their teacher, I try to instill the importance of communicating/listening to one another, being a good citizen and leader, and using trauma-informed techniques to aid them in their social-emotional development.
My students have various learning styles, backgrounds and needs.
Due to being located in an inner-city, funding is extremely hard to come by, and in order to provide my students with the best learning experiences I can give them, I typically find ways to procure these items and experiences out of pocket or by any means I can, which is where DonorsChoose comes in.
My Project
Movement is an extremely important thing in a room of preschoolers, but making it meaningful movement is even more important! By taking students' need for constant movement and making it a meaningful practice by teaching self-regulation, mindfulness, self-awareness, and purpose it creates a new form of learning and learning with purpose in the classroom.
This project is for teacher guides, workbooks, and instructional books to help aid in creating new lesson plans, activities, and incorporating movement with purpose in the classroom.
By incorporating yoga, movement, breathing, and mindfulness into our daily classroom lessons and routine, not only will we be able to provide a positive outlet for all of the natural wiggles and giggles that students have throughout the day, but we will be able to use them to teach breathing, mindfulness, self-regulation, and body positivity to students!
