My Students
A good book can make a memory that will last for many years. I remember books I read in fifth and sixth grade like it was yesterday. The vivid images the books created in my head transported me to futuristic places and historical times.
My classroom is rich in cultural diversity.
My students come from many different backgrounds and experiences. More than fifty percent of our school participates in the free or reduced lunch program, but what the students may lack in financial advantages they make up for with curiosity and hard work.
My Project
The Black Pearl is an excellent book. My students will read a text that is inspiring and entertaining. This is a story of coming of age and learning to face life. The setting provides cultural exposure to some of my students and for others, it is a book that features and honors a familiar background. The art materials will allow the students to respond to the text through art.
These books will be use by this year's students and students for years to come.
This book has a timeless message of courage and honor. Your donation will make it possible for each of my students to read from a copy of this book. Reading The Black Pearl together as a class will provide a unifying experience as the students hone their reading, writing, and artistic skills.
